My son (age 5) loves tornadoes and extreme weather. He liked all the science information in this book. It explained how tornadoes form and the Enhanced Fujita Tornado Scale with both wind speeds and pictures to illustrate what damage could occur.

We have a few Gail Gibbons books and I like her watercolor and ink illustrations/5(). This book about tornadoes includes the different names of tornadoes and how they form.

It also explains how the Enhanced Fujita Scale works and explains the different levels on the scale. A few of the worst tornadoes are described and it explains the areas that are most often hit by tornadoes.4/5(30).

The couple have coauthored Tornado!: The Story Behind These Twisting, Turning, Spinning, and Spiraling Storms and several of National Geographic’s Witness to Disaster books, including Earthquakes and Droughts. Dennis Fradin and his wife, Judy, have collectively written more than books/5(64).

Tornadoes is an informative book that allows students to learn about what tornado means, how they form the different types of tornadoes, the damage they can do, the places they typically form, and what to do if you happen to encounter one/5.
